Cactus, San Pedro Echinopsis pachanoi (syn. Trichocereus pachanoi) —

Known as San Pedro cactus is a fast-growing columnar cactus native to the Andes Mountains at 2,000–3,000 m (6,600–9,800 ft) in altitude. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, and it is cultivated in other parts of the world. Uses for it include traditional medicine and traditional veterinary medicine, and it is widely grown as an ornamental cactus. It has been used for healing and religious divination in the Andes Mountains region for over 3,000 years.[4] It is sometimes confused with its close relative Echinopsis peruviana (Peruvian torch cactus).

San Pedro is an easy to grow cactus that can quickly grow to 5-6' tall in a pot.  In our experience it is hardy down to about 20 degrees (zone 9) so it should be brought indoors in winter if you live in a colder climate. We have been growing them in unheated greenhouses for over a decade where the outside temperatures may reach zero.

Once established they can produce magnificent larger, aromatic flowers.  They do have spines, but they are very diminutive.  We love growing them and marvel at their fast and unique growth patterns.  They can range from having 5 to up to 9 sides and will periodically morph on a single stalk!

We offer unrooted 6" cuttings.  We have both tips and mid-sections.  Our best success in rooting them comes from laying them sideways on the soil in a 1-2 gallon pot of well drained potting soil.  Do not water until you see new growth- typically a bright green "bud" that will grow vertically from a horizontally planted cutting.  Tips may be put in the soil vertically and will resume growing upwards from the existing tip.  Once again - do not water until you see growth happening.  It may take 3-6 months, so please be patient.  Once it's growing and has roots, it likes water and will grow more quickly if watered regularly, although, being a cactus it is very drought tolerant.

Tip Cutting: $25

Mid-section Cutting: $15
