(85 days) Phaseolus vulgaris var. 'skunk'
I have long loved growing these reliable corn field beans, planting them at the base of field corn when it’s 3-4” tall and allowing them to climb the stalks. Originally shared with me from Rowen White of Sierra Seeds by way of Haudenosaunee farming communities North Eastern North America. Also known as Flagg beans they are more commonly known by the Mohawk language name which translates as Skunk, a reference to their flack and white swirled and stripped patterns on the seeds. Early maturing pods yield 5-7 large, flattened seeds.
