Sorghum is a large stout grass that grows up to 2.4 metres (7.9 ft) tall that is the world's 5th most planted cereal after wheat, corn, rice and barley. It has large bushy flowerheads or panicles that provide an edible starchy grain with up to 3,000 seeds in each flowerhead. It grows in warm climates worldwide for food and forage. The grain is used for food for humans; the plant is used for animal feed and ethanol production. Sorghum originated in Africa, and is now cultivated widely in tropical and subtropical regions. This variety was gathered in the Kenyan highlands and is highly uniform 6-8’ tall plants with ivory white, densely packed seed heads with about 3000 seeds per head. Impressive yields. Would make a great plant for growing your own poultry feed and stalks can be used to feed ruminants. De-seeded stalks can be used for broom making. HEIRLOOM
