Thanks to the Dryland Farming Institute we received these heirloom Italian saladette storage tomatoes that produce clusters of bright red grape shaped tomatoes. These are smaller that a slicer an a bit larger than a cherry tomato!

The flavor when ripe is a pleasant mild sweet that intensifies over time. Indeterminate vines will benefit from trellising and pruning. Trusses of fruits are tied up into veritable “ristras” to hang in your kitchen to have fresh tomatoes over the winter. In a time before refrigeration and long distance transport these storage tomatoes known as "pomodoro d'inverno" in Italy were a welcome addition to kitchens, cuisine and tasty winter meals.
