Developed by breeders Kanti Rawal and Steve Peters, California Sungold cherry tomatoes embody the best qualities of the hybrid Sun Gold in an open-pollinated form. This variety retains the classic size, color, and bright, sweet flavor of its well-loved predecessor. California Sungold features indeterminate, vigorous vines that adapt well to various growing conditions, known for its robustness and steady productivity throughout the season. Exceptionally early in Zones 7–9—often the first cherry to ripen.

These tomatoes are golden, sweet, and resistant to cracking, enhancing their appeal and durability. Their ideal size makes them perfect for snacking, salads, or transforming into rich sauces and pastes. California Sungold is celebrated for its sweet, tart, and fruity flavor, making it extremely versatile in the kitchen.
