The flavor when ripe is a pleasant mild sweet that intensifies over time. Indeterminate vines will benefit from trellising and pruning. Pienollo means “hanging” in the Neopolitan dialect from the region in Italy where these have been historically grown for centuries. Trusses of fruits are tied up into veritable “ristras” to hang in your kitchen to have fresh tomatoes over the winter.
