Ashwagandha: A frost sensitive relative of peppers and
tomatoes that is a perennial, however it is grown as an annual in most of the USA. Should be sown indoors 6-8 weeks before last spring frost and planted outdoors at 12-18” apart. Dig roots in late fall after frost.
Borage: Can be direct seeded or grown as a transplant. Grows rapidly and can self-seed readily and possibly become weedy. Somewhat frost tolerant. Space 12”
Calendula: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost into potting mix or direct sow in mid Spring. Plant in full sun every 18 inches. Harvest flowers regularly for continued production.
Spilanthes: Start indoors and then transplant after the risk of frost has passed. Space 6-12” apart in full sun. Harvest blossoms for medicine regularly to keep it producing.
