Mint, Peppermint

Mentha piperita – Perennial 

An important garden essential that we like to plant near water faucets or other similarly wet locations, as peppermint thrives with ample water.  A spreading perennial that sends out underground shoots and grows in a clumping fashion.  It can be difficult to eradicate if it’s planted in the wrong spot, so please plan and plant wisely.  Dark green leaves are tinged with purple, with dark purple stems and pretty purple flower spikes that a myriad of pollinators delight in visiting.  Peppermint can be used fresh or dried in many ways in the kitchen from iced tea, to mojitos, to lamb dishes or zesty Mediterranean salads.  Used medicinally, it it renowned as a digestive aid.  SSF.
