In a prevalent Russian dialect, "Chesnok" means garlic, although this garlic originally hails from the village of Shvelisi in the Republic of Georgia. It is an excellent producing, brilliant garlic. Long, crescent-shaped purple-hued cloves are covered by purple-striped bulb wrappers that glow with sparkles of golden glaze. Outstanding, uniquely spicy flavor raw. Holds flavor well when baked. Very long storing garlic into spring. 8-12 medium cloves per bulb. Beautiful market variety. Produces well in Northern and Southern climates of the United States. 

Free from white rot, garlic nematodes and rust. 

Flavor: Pleasant strong & sweet flavor with some heat that intensifies after some storage.

Storage ability: Will easily keep until March or April  in a cool dark garage or shed.

Cloves per pound: 60-70

Planting: One pound plants 30 row feet at one clove every 8".

Yield: 1 pound yields about 6-7 pounds depending upon size
